Default Halo 1 on xbox 360 problems

Audio problem:

I've set up my xbox 360 to output its audio through a Component adapter to fiber optic to my x-fi elite pro's optical-in.

I have no problem hearing the initial boot "tune" for the xbox 360 but, then I can't hear any sounds. Dashboard sound effects aren't heard nor are in game sounds I've tried Gears of War, BioShock and Halo 1 & 2.

I don't quite understand why I would hear the startup "diddy" for the console and then no sound from there on out.

Video question:

When I run Halo 1 on the xbox 360 I only get it in 4:3 not the 1920x1080 of other games. Is this because it is 480p?

I would be grateful for any help with these questions.

Has your 360 been updated recently? I know a few of the updates contained updates for the XBOX 1 games. If thats not it, we can look at something else.

Thanks for the reply!!

It turns out that my audio problem is a result of the creative drivers for the X-Fi series not supporting DD/DTS hardware decoding. I've decided to just run some RCA patch cables to my x-fi and be done with it.

The video thing, I think, is a result of the original Halo only supporting 480p, not 480p 16x9. Halo 2 supports 480p 16x9 and it fills my screen.

So I've not necessarily found solutions to my queries but, I've at least found explanations.

Thanks again for replying!!
