| I've played through quite a bit of the game, i have the delightful crossbow now ![]() I haven't had a single problem, I think the basic keyset is fine, and normally i'm a nazi about the crouch button being shift, but it didn't bother me cause it TOGGLES!!! ![]() I haven't seen any pointer acceleration or anything, the only thing I've had a problem with is getting my crossbow bolts back from Big Daddies (They do a lot of dmg to them), and picking up certain items under in game objects like debris, but it wasn't anything that a good crow--wrench smack couldn't fix. yes, I almost said crowbar. | ||

Highfive! :angrygame:angrygame
Have you gotten the upgrade for the crossbow that increases the strength of the bolts? They don't always survive after impact...

I didn't even know you could get them back. I never used bolts on the big daddies because I figured it wouldn't work. Instead I laid traps everywhere

Is that the natural camouflage? I never got that one to work right, I swear I'd be standing still listening to a diary and cracking a lock and wham splicer behind me.

| I remember in one preview where it was stated that if you wanted to harvest the little girls you'd be extremely hard pressed since the big daddies wouldn't go down without a huge amount of battering, what happened? I have to say, the more I hear of this game the less excited I become. | ||

I wouldn't take it that far. If you play the demo and like it, you'll still probably like the game. But the Big Daddy aspect bugs me. I liked the idea of the girls being a really tempting opportunity for ADAM but at a high cost. The thing is, before you move on if you haven't dealt with each girl and big daddy you get a reminder saying "you'll really need that ADAM". You don't HAVE to defeat each Big Daddy (and they are difficult, especially at the beginning) but it's really not that optional.

Once I had some armor piercing ammo, Big Daddys weren't too bad, just have to make sure you have maxed out your eve and health packs, have a decent enough area to fight in, and have good power weapons (armor piercing anything, anything grenades) I was a bit disappointed how easy they were to kill, I mean, with the no death penalty it doe kind of make any challenge much less of a challenge, but I respect their decision to make death meaningless....

| Sempr0n? | I've got to the Arcadia level, and I'm enjoying it so far. It isn't quite what the hype made it out to be, but don't get me wrong, it's a good solid shooter. I was a bit disappointed with the graphics though - this is the Unreal 3 engine, and I can run everything on max with just an 8800GTS 320mb?! However, the game is beautiful, and I do tend to spend a fair while gawking at it. The sound is absolutely excellent, and the voice acting the best I've heard in any game. It really adds to the illusion. In-game art and advertising are lovingly created as well - there is so much creativity behind this game, you really appreciate the effort that has been involved. I've taken out three Big Daddies so far, and I kinda feel like its a bit of a waste of time...they have persistent health, which makes defeating them a snap...all they really seem to be is a receptacle for grenades, armour-piercing bullets etc. The little things are what I like the most though. It reminds me of Deus Ex in the freeform way in which you can fight. I love hacking a few security bots and letting them do my dirty work for me. And the effect on your hand when you activate the ice plasmid - it's gruesome but looks so real! Anyways, all in all, a really good game, but not quite excellent. EDIT: If any of you UK lot are looking to purchase it, go to Virgin Megastores. It was £25 there for the standard edition, everywhere else was £30 and HMV was £35!! | |

| Waffles - The required audio diaries the game will play automatically...then there's a bunch of 'extra' stuff as well. But, I like listening to the diaries. There is some outstanding voice acting in this game and it definitely doesn't get boring listening to it. | ||

The diaries are there as a means of adding character to the inhabitants of Rapture and a way of educating you, more than what is obvious, what went on. They are not required, but I like listening to them because I find them interesting. Don't judge the game without playing it.
