The expedited patch for softlock issues affecting some users at login and during battlegrounds has been released - it is going out in all regions today.

v1.11.1 Build 5462.

Note, if you are already logged in on version 1.11.0 (5428) you are welcome to stay logged in and play. You do not need to get the patch right away. However, once you log off and then log on again, you must then download and apply the patch

If you are getting a message stating that the patch cannot be applied because it requires a different version, please open your World of Warcraft folder and delete the folder listed below. Then double click on BNUPdate to start the patching process again.

So, here's the skinny...if you were logged in this evening and logged out or got disconnected, upon logon you will be forced to DL this patch (why Blizz thought that primetime was a good time to apply the patch is anybody's guess).

Although the patch itself is not large, the download speed is horrendous (i've been downloading it for over an hour...on an 8Mb cable connection).

And it gets better...it appears that the DL may be buggy. If you are one of the unfortunate ones to experience and endless DL loop, then try the solution listed above.

To top that off, this is a surprise patch, and as such it may cause trouble with addons...oh joy!

Ok, been gaming on the patch for a bit and all seems well. No problems with any addons, although i did have to check the "load out of date addons" option from the addon menu on the character login screen (press the red addon button in the lower left corner of the screen to get to the menu).

AHA! So, this is what happened....

We had prepared a small patch intended to fix a soft lock issue and unfortunately due to some internal miscommunication it was pushed during prime time. This caused players who attempted to login and download the patch to endure a very lengthy download session. We've since pulled the patch and players should once again be able to return to the game. We applied the patch this morning at 3:00 AM PDT during off-peak hours which should allow for a much quicker download. We apologize greatly for any inconvenience this issue might have caused you.

i really do not like this patch =(, They made Mages able to farm alot easier, and they nerfed WF for shammys lol, and the only mod i had trouble with was Titans but i need to update that anyway =D

I like the changes that they made to the mage class (prior to them, there was wwaaayyy too much downtime for mana regen imo).

I use Cosmos (among others), and , ironically, the only trouble that i had with any addons was when someone buggered up the scripting in one of the Alpha downloads (that was no fun), but it only took them a day or 2 to fix (and i DLed an old version of the broken addons that worked while i waited for a fix...the show must go on ).
