Default System Monitor doesn't see Page File . . . .

From what I've read, most people suggest putting your page file on a physically separate drive from your system drive. I've also read that it's good to leave at least 64MB of page file on the system drive for some reason (I can't remember why at the moment).

What I don't understand (and you can see this illustrated in the image below) is why the system monitor doesn't see the 3.5GB of pagefile that I've placed on a physically different drive (ORION in this case)

In the Kernel Memory section, it's only showing 161MB total.

Any ideas?

Default Re: System Monitor doesn't see Page File . . . .

it varies on how much it needs to how much it uses
im guessing that since it doesnt need 3 GB's its only alloting 161mbs, sincewindows never listens anyhow, its really set ot like 16mb-3500 mb for a pagefile, although you might set it higher

One thing to keep in mind the bigger the page file, the more usage of you PC its going to need to use torun a big page file, so unless your using photshop and need 3 GB's of space, windows ironically is helping out by not holding up 3 GBs of open sectors. lol whats the chance windows actually good for you...lol

Thanks for the response!!

I understand what you're saying. And after looking at the screen a bit more I'm realizing that the System Monitor Window (In the System section on the right) does show a total Page File of 5527M (which is the sum of my Physical Memory + the two page files.)

Thank you for illuminating this for me.
