Default Booting up

A few months ago, as some of yall might remember my parents computer’s hard drive craped out on them and I had to install an new one. But, since I have done that, every time we boot the computer up, Intel “Boot agent” pops up (before windows loads) and looks for changes. Very bothersome since it takes about 20 secs+ to scan every time…

Any idea on how to turn it off? Also, any way to disable the screen that shows up with the computer when it first boots that shows the graphics card model and driver info (not as bad since it has always done this, and only flashes for a sec.)

First place I thought to look was the Bios, but since this is a store bought Gateway, the bios is crippled from the end user, and only has one or two options.

Are you talking about the Network Boot Manager (PXE) ?. If so just take out the option to boot from the network in the BIOS.

Can you remind us:
1. What make / model system you're using
2. What make / model hard drive you're using

Thanks!

what is the boot device order in the bios?

It sounds like you may have network placed above harddisk which is making it check the lan every time you boot

do you still have the old Hard drive in there ..

one way to get that is also to have a non-bootable Harddrive as a primary.

Ahhh… I dint even think about that. Thanks, ya, it was scanning the network. Problem fixed. boot device order was out of whack for some reason (why it would switch after several years, who knows.) Thanks guys. Any idea on how to get rid of the Nvidia device flash at boot up (displays card name, ect.)? As I said above, not a big deal as it only lasts a sec or two, after which, it boots straight into windows (now. Thanks again guys).

Thanks.

I think that's one of the 'fast boot' options. There should be something in the BIOS about displaying / not displaying that screen.
