Default Main hard drive is "I"?

Ok everyone. Im here again to ask an question on my parents computer (3yr old Gateway)... Now. The story goes like this. Their Hard Drive was damaged. Gateway sent them an new one. My dad went ahead and installed the new drive and installed window. But for some reason, windows labled it as drive letter "I" and the flash drive reader drives as C, D, ect... Now, I know I can rename the drive letters with the diskmgmt utillity, but and wondering what will hapen with the Hard Drive. Someone say something if I am wrong, but I can not relable the main Hard Drive on which windows is installed. (Change it from "I" to "C")... Any Ideas? Just do another Fresh install of windows?

Ya, I knew that. I was wondering if there is any way to re-lable the main, and only, hard drive from I -to- C without having to re-install windows.

Disk management will not let you change the drive letter of a system drive.

try to boot the computer with just the hard drive attached(ie no cdrom, card reader etc) and see what happens

Thanks Planet, you might come across some errors with some programs though...they will be looking for the .exe in drive I, when in fact it will be changed. It's simple to fix but can be a pain at times.
