Default Partition is "Dirty"

It all started back in windows. My drive kept on clicking, and it sounds like its restarting like it doesnt have enough power (or as if the power connector is loose) Anyway I boot up Knoppix (as a back up, atleast I can still use my comp) and I get the following message- "Partition is Dirty" Im like, wtf? I dont even have porn on the drive!!! So is my drive on the way out? It has windows on it and all my data. Oddly, I can still read from it with linux, but when ever I boot it up, It goes to the windows loading screen and just restarts.

Should I try another power Connector?

The drive is still starting and restarting and has that "click" like when you start the computer for the first time. I know I do have enough Power, 350W, Athlon XP 2.3Ghz, 512Mb Ram 2 HDD's, 1 120, 1 40Gb. Display=Radeon 9600 Pro.

You may not have enough power, your psu could be getting flakey.

However, that's unlikely.

Sounds like your HD is biting the dust. Better backup first, then unload any other drives, externals, non-essential cards, etc and try running Windows.

Yeah that click is almost definetly the drive dieing do a backup ASAP. Sometimes a clicking drive will last for months or it might not boot tommorow morning.

Thats the thing, I only have the Mobo, and the 2 HDD's on that PSU. Everything else is on a Seperate PSU (including CD rom drive, fans, etc) I only have an Agp card, So the onlly thing I can do is remove that 1HDD. This PSU is practically new. Its an Antec PSU.

Theres only 1 Thing I have to backup, Oh crap. That means if I reformat, I have to format my F drive to, since it has all my games on it. Oh wait, no I dont, I put them in a seperate folder so I dont have to do that . I could just delete the folder and keep everything.

O.o Crap, I wont be able to burn a backup since knoppix is using the current drive. I know theres a command to copy everything to ram, well time to give that a try!

EDIT- But I can still accsess the drive.

Update. I found out I can back it up to the upstairs comp, I didnt know linux can write to another computer (a shared folder). I think its NTFS upstairs. Im hoping I can read it. Well the data was moved from an NFTS HDD, so Im guessing all linux did was "move" the data.

Well I formated, and Now I install knoppix on the "bad partition". Oddly, It hasnt made that clicking since. I wonder if windows was just bad.

If you have a burner on that computer just load Knoppix entirely into RAM , eject the disc, pop in a blank and burn baby burn.
