| Banned | So for some reason, not sure why, probly something I messed up or just happened when I was fiddling with some network thingy's. But not my ctrl+alt+del, which I used to use to revert back to the task manager looks like its from windows 2000 :/ You know, gives me six options on a little window, Lock Computer, Task Manager, Log Off, Cancel, Shutdown, and Change Password. And when I click Task Manager, it doesnt come up! edit/ The old look issue is gone, but still, my task manager is no where to be found. Last edited by Wafflesomd; 31-July-06 at 11:10 PM. Reason: One problem has been solved, and I want to change the title so ppl are atracted to the real problem |

![]() | While I can't tell you exactly how to fix it, I had the same issue with Windows and Microsoft sent me to "Tinyurl" to download a task manager fix or patch. Hope this helps, but as I stated, it has happened to one of my machines twice and Microsoft knew how to fix it the second I told them waht the problem was. Sounds like a common issue from their response. |

To troubleshoot, have you tried running the task manager directly? Run it manually: taskmgr If it doesn't run, do you get an hourglass cursor until you click on something else, or does nothing happen at all? If nothing at all happens, it is is possible you have a ALCRA.B Worm (http://securityresponse.symantec.com...2.alcra.b.html). It has been known to disable programs on a Windows system such as the Task Manager.
If you get an hourglass cursor, you might have a difference problem related to user permissions on your PC or corrupted files. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Apex Tech God | also try right clicking the taskbar, and clicking task manager, if this does not work try the idea cipher nemo has that could be your issue, have you scanned for malware or spyware recently, maybe even a virus.
