Default Delay apps starting at logon

So I run a Win2000 desktop.

I've got two applications which need to start in a specific way.

I run SpeedFan, and then STLCD (www.stlcd.de) feeds the results onto my VFD.

However, unless SpeedFan starts well before STLCD does, STLCD fails to "lock into" SpeedFan and I get it displaying zeros.

So I'd like to insert a delay of like 15 seconds after starting SpeedFan and before starting STLCD.

The most obvious way I can think of would be to get a "do-nothing" app and assemble a batch file that started Speedfan, ran the do-nothing to eat 15 seconds, and go to STLCD, but I don't have the do nothing app.

well, I THOUGHT this would be an easy batch file, but the pause command is just for press any key and not something like this, so I googled around, found this, didn't actually dl it yet, but I think I'll try it out myself, gaim takes forever when it loads immediately...

http://www.ss64.com/nt/sleep.html gives a useful alternative, making the machine ping itself as a delay loop. I like to "close off" a thread once I solve a problem, in case someone has a similar problem later.

Also, for others who are trying this, you'll notice that a batch file tends to lock after launching a GUI app, until you shut it down; if you run it as start "name of fake window" /b "actual command", it helps.

Sorry to reopen the thread. An alternative might be SCANREG, if it runs in 2000. THen just use the EXIT command.
