Default Good Antivirus?

Well I've been using Norton corporate versions of antivirus for a while now, and im getting tired of it being a recource hog. All i have found on the net so far are Avast and AVG. I've tried both of them, and i dont like either one of them. Anyone know of any other good free ones?

EZ Anti Virus by CA. Will run on just about anything and is not the resource hog Norton has become.

I gennerally try and use a plethora of apps. I use Mac afee for ondemand scanning, AVG for routine scanning, and E-wedo when I need to root out something particulary bad.

The same applies to spyware--Microsoft Anti-Spyware(The best Ive used so far ) and Spybot and ocasionally a couple others.

I use Symantec Corporate edition on all of my machines except my main one, and it never seems to be a resource hog. Are you using Norton corporate edition or Symantec corporate edition? I know they are pretty much the same company, but the difference in the 3 versions is like night and day when it comes to resources.

AVG works great for me. I've never had any problems with it. I like to use Zonealarm firewall with it. Windows firewall doesnt protect on incoming connections just outgoing.

For paying customers and the fortunate that have access to corporate licesens Symantec is an industry leader. For budget customers AVG does just as good IMO for AntiVirous needs.

I'll put in for the Open Source alternative: http://www.clamwin.com/
I use ClamAV on both my WinXP and Gentoo installs and have no problems or slow downs when it is scanning, even when I'm playing WoW.

I have a single core Opteron @ 3.0Ghz.

Every night at 2am AVG does its automatic scanning, including my half terrabyte storage drives, with no trouble at all whilst im playing Dawn Of War on teh Interwebnet and listening to MP3s from Winamp...

Are you running a dual core Pentium 2 or something dude?

Go on Ebay, and buy Trend-Micro Pc-Cillin. It is truly awesome. I've tried norton int. sec. package, and i've tried free AVG...and trend-micro beats both of them by a long-shot. The software package has a firewall, spyware removal software, antivirus software, and protection for wifi networks....retail, it was about 60 dollars. On ebay, got it for about 25.
