Default weird problem

I just finished upgrading from windows 98 to xp on a older system, i only upgraded due to the data on that system. Now when i right click on the desktop explorer.exe restarts. Which is extremly weird. The menu does not appear. Any help?

corrupt context menu, you either installed or uninstalled something that messed with your desktops context menu, and now when you right click it errors out...

try that, and remove anything that you recognize as being uninstalled, or anything that isnt absolutely necessary...

EDIT: just read that you did an upgrade, and yep, that could be the problem too, something that was installed before that isnt working out with XP probably, or you might just need to do a clean up and set the xp context menu to its default settings...

as a side note... i would backup your data and then format the drive.. and then install windows xp..

you will notice when you upgrade that xp will seem slow and bugy.. that will get resolved /w a format..

also... if you dont upgrade... at least use the convert command to change the fs from fat32 to ntfs...
