| Okay, a friend of mine has happened upon a weird windows error. When he boots hi machine it says that it is looking for /status. The machine boots into a user called SYSTEM, and nothing will run. When he clicks on something, it says "C:\program files\Mozilla Firefox/firefox.exe" and under that it says Not enough quota is availiable to process this command. The same crap occurs in safe mode. He cant even use the run utility to get into MS-DOS. He created a folder within his windows directory called status, and now he recieves a new error, which goes "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the folder options control panel. Random specs of the system Windows XP Professional, Intel CPU, 2.0GH+, 1GB ram, 512 of it is kingmax, 512 is other, they run in dual channel mode. 2 hard drives, both WD, one an 80 gig, and the 40 gig has the OS on it. Thanks in advance for any help. | ||

| I cant say im a great software guru, my skills are in hardware. To give you an honest opinion......This operating system is hosed! Whether he changed some settings or downloaded some infection off the web. Even if you could get it working the registry is hosed and it would be most worth while to do a clean install of the operating system. If their's valueable information on the drive. You could attach it to yours and scan it for trojans, viruses etc. Before transferring files to your pc. We of course dont know what damage is done to the OS. So like i said before its best to reload windows and start fresh. Im sure the pc will run a little better on a fresh install. I hope this helps....although, im sure its not the answer you were looking for..... Believe me, No One likes to reload their drive from scratch. Rockin'male ![]() | ||

| Yeah, okay, we took a spare drive of mine, loaded the OS on that, took his files off of his drive, and then reformatted+reloaded his drive, so its now working. The only sucky part about it is hes an animator and lost like a day's worth of worktime for his project due on friday, but hell work it out. Thanks again for all your guy's help, and although its been forever since ive posted on (formerly Pimrig) Ill always think of this as the best place for help with anything computer related, peace guys | ||
