My Flag Ship has lost it's way to PR.

Both Firefox and IE can not access www.pcapex.com.
IE = page can not be displayed
Firefox = Method Not Implemented Get to / not supported.

BUT www.pimprig.net WILL let me into my email.

Its not my network as this pc is on the the same network.

Any ideas?

Well the answer to that my dear Foe is ........... uhhh no. I never thought to do that.

Thanks Ill try that. I guess its been too many months to count sence I cleared the cookies.

Also I have uninstalled FF and reinstalled it but that did not work either.
Just after that is when I tried IE and as stated IE is F'ed up too.

The Flag Ship is running XP Pro. See my sig for more stats.

It would ba a shame to have to do a repair install but if its needed.... I CAN DOOOO IIIIITT!

EDIT: Leprechauns? Not likely but I do have suspicions about the coven of witches across the glen.

EDIT: no clearing the cookies and cache did not fix the problem.
This is crazy. PR is the only url that is doing that on my main rig.

In the Tools > Options > General tab, click on the connection settings button. Try changing to "Auto-detect proxy settings". It is just a guess really but certainly couldn't hurt.

Try this. Open up a command prompt and type ipconfig /flushdns
This will flush the DNS Resolver Cache

But no Cigar yet.
There was never any proxi set but trying godfoot's suggestion for auto did not bare fruit.
the ipconfig trick did not fix the issue but did prompt me to ping pcapex.com. ping is successful

Ping working but browser not?? Im still lost. But am thankful I can still get here through a diffrent PC.

EDIT: a rollback?? hmmm no that is one XP feature that I have not tried. Ill look into it. Thanks

What version of FF are you running?

Also when you get that message is there anything trying to load in the lower left side of the status bar for FF?

clear the prefetch...

goto run .... type command
then type del c:\windows\prefetch\*.*

FF is 1.0.7 the most recent recent release.
IE is 6.0.2900.2180

deleting the prefetch files did not effect the problem.

Still no PR on my Flag Ship.

hmm are you using an ip banned by PR for spamming etc... BYNO MEANS AM I SAYING YOU SPAM !!!!!!!!!
just that isps can reassign ips randomly. try ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew. mine had similar with other sites randomly not coming up and my ips answer was well that ip is blocked from any adult content...WTF? google is adult? anyway new ip fixed the prob.

also the system retore is what they mean. win support can cake walk you through it drunk I know ive done it

I dont know of any time that my IP has been banned from any web page or service.

I tryed it but system restore is not the answer.

That @#$%&*@ POS windoze XP Pro sp2 would not restore form 2 diffrent restore points.

But jumping through that hoop did reveal some information.

On 10/29 a restore point was created by the system while installing some type of Java sh!t.
10/29 was the last time I was on PR from that paper weight GRRRRRRRRR!.
So I went into the control panel and deleted Java runtime J2SE 5.0 update 5.

And just guess what happened. Nothing noticable.

This is trying my patients.

None the less I thank all of you for your suggestions and assistance.
Oh and thanks for letting me cry on your cyber sholders.

Any additional thoughts on how to fix that pain in my @$$ will be greatly aprecieated and accepted.

I just don't understand why the only url effected is pcapex.com? and only on that PC.
If there was a ban would that not keep all of my PC's from accessing the site? including this PC?
All other programs and web pages work fine.

Can you tell that this quandary is not pleasing me?

Have u tried directly connecting to the PR ip? A while back I had problems connecting to a certain well known public torrent site that's not about anymore, anyway the url wouldn't work but I got my mate to hook me up with the ip and badabing I was on.

My prob did seem to be spyware though.

When my Sygate personal Pro firewall is on only the PR url is blocked??
I still have not figured that one out. I don't know if the firewall is designed to prevent a specific site.

Sometimes we must eat our words. This sweet machine that I loveingly built (a blatant attempt to apease my blessed DEITY for my misgivings) is not the @#$$^%^&*@ POS paper weight previously accused of being.
Its that F'ing fire wall. Sygate firewall has caused me some problems before on other machines but has not, before this instience, caused any problems on my Flag Ship.

Thanks again. Now it's time to go and delete the Sygate firewall and go looking for a diffrent PC condom.

Anyone know of a good freeware firewall?

EDIT: now that this matter has been rectified why is it that I feel whole again?
Just what is it that creates that emotion of calm after the storm?????
