Microsofts ' Windows Genuine Advantage', how its screwing people, and how to kill it.

**this thread contains no instructions for illegal actions or piracy, only removing an IE addon**

If you've done windows update recently, you may of been stopped right in your tracks by piece of crap called "Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool." It is simply an activeX control that screws you if you are doing naughty stuff like using Enterprise editions and keygens/keysheets.

So how do you KILL WGA ? I simply disabled the activeX plugin. In internet options, go to programs, manage add-ons, find WGA and click disable. Hit ok then re open IE.

If that doesnt work, try deleting Legitcheckcontrol.dll , the WGA file. Or use some kind of program that removes IE addons.

Yet another option is to use Windizupdate. But simply killing the IE addon worked fine for me.

A.K.A.-Spyware, Invasion of privacy, etc. Its stuff like that that turns me off from windows. Better yet, use FireFox. Its better than IE in so many ways anyway, and won't be infiltrated by snooping Window$ bull crap.

Ive been using Firefox for a long time now. I love it. My wife, however, wont take my advice and use it for her day to day browsing. She doesnt like it for some reason. I guess its because some of her frequented sites dont work as well with Firefox as they do with IE. This is true, but honestly Ive only ran into that problem myself maybe once or twice.

That ticked me off on my work PC. We purchased a site license and when I went to update computer I was told I had an enterprise license that had been placed on the banned list. We are waiting for new one's now, but I had to disable ActiveX to do individual updates on my PC. The rest are updated via Radia.

I also favor firefox. But when sites use fancy 3rd party scripts and crap I sometimes have to stick with IE. Its all a money game, I believe websites get paid to use Java/Flash crap (equally suspicious is the "were sorry, but you must use internet explorer to view our site. Other browsers? What other browsers?)

However the only plugin I dont have installed is Java. My comp acts screwy with it installed. Most sites work with out it, and only a few dont.

All you have to do is go into add/remove windows components and uncheck "Microsoft Internet Explorer"... It takes all of about 12 seconds.

Well right now im using a OEM version of Home...and to be honest im about to load up my "acquired" version of XP Pro Corp...this god damn having to phone, say out a 34 digit number to a freaking computer, then talk to someone who can't speak English to allow me to use my own godman computer bull**** that takse 20min is getting on my nerves...this is what I get for buying XP?? F*CK YOU MICROSOFT...yeah..I used a "acquired" copy for about 3 years. And im happy I did.

I put in any new hardware (hey this is what I do when im bored, right?) and then this **** locks me outÃ‚â€¦.im SOOOO glad I bought the software. NOT.
