"Yes. It's not spying on you, but the fact is that Weatherbug installs things on your computer that cause you to get annoying popup ads all the time."

I can't say for sure, but I don't think so. I've had it at home in my last computer (3 years or so) and never had a problem. Zonealarm, PestPatrol or none of the other utilities ever picked anything up.

I have it on my desktop at work, and the IT dept here is pretty strict. They would block it for sure if there was something fishy. But like you, I wonder.....and as a result have not loaded it into my new rig at home....

THANKS for this info. Can't say I get a lot of pop-ups but if there was reason to doubt Weatherbug, you may have a point here.

I haven't used spyware, Err, I mean weatherbug in two years. Back then, it drove me nutts with popups. I stick with forecastfox for firefox.

Hmm I did notice I get pop ups sometimes, but my parents use the broswer that came with the internet. Is there anything better than Weather bug out there (for NON firefox users)?

Try these:

Weather Pulse: http://tropicdesigns.net/weatherpulse.php

Weather Watcher: http://www.singerscreations.com/RSS/Posts/265.asp

Both free and no spyware.

You could install the ebaums world toolbar, it has a whether forecast that is updated like every 20 minutes or so.
Just enter your zip code and it displays it, except at extreme times of the day for some reason.
