Default WinMP Video Problems

I got my Raptor all set up, installed WinXP Pro, downloaded all the update files, blah, blah, blah... Everything runs great, and so much faster, but...

I got a video from a friend via email, and when I opened it to play, the picture quality was all jacked up... I thought it might be something to do with WinMP, so I DL'd Win MP 10, but the problem is still there... It almost looks like the videos are playing in 256 colors instead of 32-bit... Any ideas on a fix?

Could it just be the video itself is like that?

Try this one........it's VideoLan and it doesn't use any CODECs......... http://www.videolan.org/

Now if the video still looks screwy, then it's the video........

Go to Tools, then Options. Go to the Performance tab. At the bottom, click on the advanced button. I believe you need to uncheck the second box, or the first. but do the opposite of what it is now. i forget wwhat exactely, because im doing this from memory.

Does anyone know how to fix either or both of these mpeg issues in WMP10. Videos displaying streched to widescreen, even though theyre standard aspect ration and/or, the videos coming up short. Its kinds of hard to explain, but lets say, i have a 20min video. The progress bar hits the end and it stops after 2 minutes. If i move the progress bar to the middle, itll go to 10 minutes into the video, but it will still stop after 1 more minute. Anybody got like an additional mpeg decoder or something i can install?

Use DefilerPack and QuickTimeAlternative. That should be all you need to play any type of vid file. Its all i use. Except for the Matroska one. but that codec has tons of spyware in it.

It was set to "Use Overlays"... WTF??? (see attachment pic)
