He'll need a program called "Virtual Windows"... it's like Windows but not quite as it's emulated.

You can install Windows on a Mac but not without also having MacOS on it. You will also need some sort of PC emulation software such as Virtual PC.

Edit: On the flipside, you can also run Mac OS on PCs. Go here for more info:

Is this going to change at all with the advent of intel processors on macs?

EDIT: I do realize that this would be an absurdly stupid thing for Apple to allow....

While it can be done there will be a performance hit......and I dont think it would be pretty.

In theory you can; but as most people have suggested, that would require some sort of emulator.

On top of which, in order to get the command line where you would be able to get full control of the system; it is a 68-step process. (a.k.a its fairly involved.) Why would he want to use Windows on a Mac? (kinda defeats the purpose does it not?)

nice let me know where you can get a G5 notebook lol, I think you mean G4

neways, you can do it but y, one of the good things about getting an apple is that you donÂ’t have to use windows! and like aaronrkelly said the performance hit is not worth it, it have see a mac running xp through an emulator and it was not a pritty sight........moved about as fast as frozen pee soup

If he wants a mac, he should get a mac, OSX is good. Real good. If he wants windows, he should get a thinkpad, even if its not as sexy as a powerbook.

Windows doesnt run properly on Mac systems...next year and beyond there is a much better chance of that happening when Apple changes over to the x86 based Intel chips. So for now its emulators or MacOSX.
