Default Red Hat Linux, no internet

I have cannot get the internet going on my laptop. I got Red Hat insalled on it, it is hooked up on my home network with cable internet. I am lost using Linux, and totally lost on how to get this thing folding!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Please ignore/delete this post. I had a problem with my main computer's cd burner, I am now burning several legal Linux installs, and will find one I like and be back most likely at another time with more questions.

if you're downloading the images off the net, make sure that you run the md5sum check. Believe me, it's saved me MANY MANY MANY times. Note though - md5sum IS filename AND case sensitive (at least based on my understanding of it) so if you have "fileName" and "filename" will yield different results. be careful about that.

I am running Mandrake now, had a bad download, got all of that fixed, and it looks like the laptop is folding away.
