| Apex Tech Demi-God | You left out many crucial details in your post. Does it just freeze when you open that picture folder or does the computer freeze when any folder is opened? Have you gone into safe mode and try to access the folder? What are the system specs? What was the last thing that was changed on the computer? Please update us and we'll try to help you out. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Does she have the folder options set to use thumbnails, details, or something else? Try setting it to List and see if she has the same issue. Does this happen when she tries to open the image folder when using an application also? Say an image type software like PaintShop Pro. |

| Apex Tech God | if the pictures are really important, go into safe mode, and cut them out of the folder into antoher...and make sure their just shown as details or list.

| Apex Tech God | which spyware scanner are you using? some of them aren't as good as others. try spybot search and destroy, lavasoft adaware, and for preventive measures install spywareblaster. if you still got problems or spyware that the above can't remove, use Hijack This |

| Apex Tech Fanatic | tried going into safe mode and cutting the files into another folder.no luck .the new folder starts freezing everything when you open it a second time.its as if i transfered the prob(whatever it may be) into the new folder.i am going to try and move 1 file at a time into another new folder and see how that goes.the antispyware i used was adaware and spybot.it just seems strange that this only happens with this 1 folder |

| Apex Tech Maniac | Maybe there's some data corruption going on. Try this.Download paint shop pro and inside that see if you can preview the pictures in there. If you can get to them in paintshop pro then you'll be able to resave them to antoher location (and even in a different format if you were feeling adventurous, infact I reccomend that.) Another option.I would try moving the files to your own computer just to see if you can replicate the problem. If it does replicate the fault then delete the files from both pc's and never look back. If it doesn't replicate the fault go back to your wifes pc and try disabing uneccesary services, there are several guides knocking about on which services are safe to loose. Just as a final thought (if paintshop pro isn't an option) and you have a digital camera (assuming they were jpegs) try moving them to it or some other capable portable device just to see if the pictures actually open. If none of this sorts it just delete the folder and never look back. They can't be worth the contstant freezes. Hope this helps and keep us informed. Last edited by z0mbi3; 20-June-05 at 05:28 AM.
