I thought so,thing similar the other day...what with hardly anyone suggesting anything about 64bit written software. If there anything else that doesnt work? Firewalls? Spyware scanners? I know games are virtually a write-off.

LwrS10 hit it on the head... Avast is a rather nice AV or if you want to go with Norton.... 10.0 is your baby.... Personally.. I hate Norton... but thats just my humble opinion... I am running Avast on my 64

Does win64 have problems with viruses? I have never used an AV program since 2001 when I started to use windows XP becauseÂ…wellÂ…im not stupid. I run commonsense vr.4. I never had problems with viruses yet. No offence to the computer illiterate people who feel they need them (well I guess they do *rolls eyes*).

I cant get over the dell users that wont connect there pc to the net until there is an AV runningÂ…like stop clicking on the free money and porn links you sick mofo and you will be fine. AV software is usually for suckers.

I have used Norton and Sygates Personal Firewall. Both seem to be able to configure how you would like.

i do see your point there, but i know not where to go, and i still sometimes get viruses. i prob run common sense v5.0, and still battle dumb stuff like that every once in a while. i remeber a while back when google got hacked, type in www.google.com, and bam! you got a virus. and other people use my computer---like my girlfriend. ive been to many sites that have viruses encoded in the web content--cause the site got hacked. seen myspace, google, weather webites, and a few others have that happen to them.

not slammin you at all man----just my opinon on anti-virus.

Surfing the internet without antivirus is like unprotected sex with a hooker. bad stuff.

WoW man... thats a pretty bold statement saying were all Computer illiterate and or stupid because we choose to run AV software... I have personally went to sites that are non warez, pr0n, money or anything related and AVG would pop up with a Virus warning on that page.... Its not just those "illegal" or "questionable material" sites that may have a virus embeded into them....

and im not stupid.

Seems like a contradiction to me........

I know its possible but other people use my PC and I dont/wont trust them that well. Seems like added insurance to me. I wonder if you do have any virii on your PC?

For those that dont want to install a virus scanner TrendMicro provides an online virus scanner called housecall (google for it). Its free and can be used whenever you like but does not stay memory resident. Works very nice.
