PC turn off by itself?

I formatted my Plexi case a little while ago, it used to have Win98 on it, now it has XP pro. Ever since XP it wont turn off by itself, I have to wait for the "Now safe to shut off your computer" screen. Is there any way to turn auto shut off back on?

Go to Windows Update. I believe there is a patch out for this.

I already updated, nothing changed...

Is it in a service pack?

If not, is there anything else I could do?

Does this fix it?

1. In Control Panel (using "Classic View"), click "Performance and Maintenance", and then click "Power Options".
2. Click the "APM" tab.
3. Check to select the "Enable Advanced Power Management Support" check box, and then click OK.
