Finding your XP Install Key....

Just a little something I happened across earlier... I am working on reloading my Parents PC and while looking through the CD book for XP I noticed the absence of the COA and Product key

CRAP!!!!

Well.... Knowing there had to be a way to get it back off the current install I stopped booted into Windows and preceeded to look around on my rig for some info on this... which lead me to ViewKeyXP..... A very simple looking freeware program which will basically reverse hash the product code on the machine to reveal the XP Install Key.... YAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH.........

Another program which does Windows keys as well as Office 97/XP keys is the Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder, whose main site http://www.magicaljellybean.com is down at the moment for some emergency maintainance they say. But can be found at http://gutterstar.net/id42.php

ok... I dont know if it was because of SP2 or what but the one I posted didnt work lol.. the Magical Jellybean KeyFinder works like a charm though....

Belarc is nice because it will also give the key to other software you have installed.

i use keyfinder , i have it stored on my USB thumbdrive! that way i can goto to any computer and grab the product ket for when it comes time to reinstall!

Make sure you get WPA_kill.exe too. It kills Windows Activation crap that keeps poping up.

I dont know if this sugguestion is allowed on the forum though (its not crack or keygen) Just tell me if its inappriate and I'll take it down.
