| Apex's Squirrel Revolutionary | This problem has been happening to me for the longest time now and nobody in my house knows anything how to fix it. I have already tried changing the theme and everything and the color changes with the background color. normally it is seethrough and matches the background image, but it changes to the color i set it too. To see what i mean, see my screenshot. That is a screenshot taken right off my desktop, I am stumped and i have tried changing the color to white and various others. Please Help me.......

Alas, the drop shadow idea didn't work. good attempt though. i hope there is a way around this without formatting. this problem isn't fatal, just a niousance (spelling, tired)

| PCApex Review Editor | My best guess on this is that your windows image cache is pooched, and the only way I know of fixing it is by installing Tweak UI and having it Repair your Icons. If that doesn't work, let me know and I'll try digging for more tweaks. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Only other thing I can think of to try is to right click on desktop, go to the appearance tab, click the advanced button, scroll through drop-down list to icons, and try changing the size of the icons a bit (from 32 pixels to something slightly larger/smaller). Or instead of clicking on the advanced button, click on the effects button then try clicking/unclicking on the use large icons option, click ok, then apply. It may or may not work, but is worth a shot I guess. This one has me stumped too. Edit: I also thought that you may try changing your resolution settings, then changing them back to what you prefer, see if that maybe "resets" the problem. |

| N-Hoe-yd | This is a simple problem to fix, right Click your my computer icon, go to properties, then to the advanced tab and click performance settings. Put a check in the box that says Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop and click apply. Problem solved.

Hmm... I got one idea that might work. Right-click on the desktop, point to "Arrange Icons By >", and make sure the "Lock Web Items on Desktop" option is NOT checked. For me, checking that option results in the behavior you described. Hope this one works for ya! | |||||||||||||||||||||||

| PCApex Review Editor | Next question for me is have you tried uninstalling then reinstalling your video drivers? It may be that your system isn't seeing the transparency of that pallette properly . . . *shrugs* But I'm grasping at straws now . . . Just so I know, what video card are you running? |

| Apex Master Tech | (1) you can remove the my computer icon from the desktop (2) look at my screenshot. http://www.thespazz.net/linked/prfatso.jpg huge pic, if those boxes are checked, you're fine, if not, there's your problem.
