Default Microsoft Paint problems

yeh i no, no one hardly uses it, but i do, and im stuck now without it. Ive tried the most obvious - repair installation of XP, and system works shows no regestry problems. I did try replacing relating system files, but that produced no results. anyone got any ideas? im thinking it could be spyware related- i have had problems with some recently.

Your question is fairly vague. Does it just not run? Have you done a search to see if mspaint.exe is still on your HD? If its there or not, have you tried to get a good copy of mspaint.exe and installing or overwriting it in the windows/system32 folder ? Try those things or give more details

yes i see wat u mean by vague wernt awake this morning. Ive searched up on related files and everything that i can see that paint uses, is there, the exe is there and all accossiated dll's and sys's. But the darn thing wont work! Upon trying al shortcuts in start menu and going to the original exe, it comes up with the error occured sending message window.

Im thinking of using a paint programme for linux (also runs on XP) for the time being, but the sooner i get my simple doodab back, the better. I realise a complete re-install would do just the trick, but that would take forever.

Seems nev_payne had the same issue sw0nald did, a bad DLL, mfc42u.dll.

If anyone else has this issue let me know, it's probably from some
recent windows crash likelihood booster, I mean, update.
