What is the blue screen error?

If the screen clears too quickly for you to catch whats said, disable auto-restart in event of system failure.

Right-Click My Computer>System Properties>Advanced Tab>Startup And Recovery Settings>

Under the System Failure section, uncheck Automatically Restart.

Nah - the memory dump (I believe) is just for trouble shooting - dumps all contents of memory to a .dmp file that can be analyzed. I could never get anything valuable out of one though.

Small memory dump = dumps any system related changes in the memory to a dump file on the HDD.
You can disable it, I have never gotten any useful information or recoverable data from dumps.

The idea of me telling you how to disable automatic restarts on system failure was to find out what BSOD error you are getting. So, what is it?

*grolsch advert* shhhhtopp!! this thread hasnt been answered yet! theres been no question of OS model yet, there isnt even a solution! you cant rush these things you know, likes like grolsch - its brewed longer for a fuller taste.

im sorry - adding a little histeria to the topic. If its windows 98 your running, that OS has a obscene problem of not shutting down...ever when a certain problem is reached - some sort of regestry file gone capoot.

go to windows update when ur next online and download the hell out of it. trust me things work so much better. You could also try norton windoctor, running off a norton systemworks CD - I did this on an old system that wud chave taken ages installing it so i ran it off cd to save time - it found 341 problems in 5 areas, and once fixed, the system was so much more stable.

suggest you try that out if you can.
