| Apex Advanced Techie | I was using my home computer the other day and all of a sudden it is slow as crap i cant do anything. I boot up and after that nothing works because it is so slow none of my apps can open. I did not knowingly download anything prior to this happening. I went from Win ME to Win XP Home with the upgrade version of the software. I did adjust my page file memory size to try and fix the problem. Anyone know whats going on?? My new rig still has a ways to go before its finished so right now im stuck with no computer and i have to be careful about using the computers at work. I just need to know whats going on. |

| Apex Tech Maniac | Ctrl-Alt-Del and look for suspicious processes, you might find closing them a good temp. fix so that you can run the scans without problems... Any processes you're not sure of, either ask in here, or Google the name of the process eg blahblah.exe...

| Bi P-Hoe-lar | did you upgrade, or do a full install with the XP upgrade CD and the ME upgrade CD? I've noticed a lot of problems when people upgrade from ME to XP without a fresh install.

| Apex Advanced Techie | Ended up being a trojan in my system as well as another virus, but im shure the multitude of adware/spyware on my system wasnt helping. Problem fixed ran antivirus progran and spybot S&D. All's well that ends without a reformat i guess, thanks guys. |

I happened to think of this one day at work last week (we got a virus back in December and I got rid of it but a stupic popup box kept opening when windows loaded because it was looking for a file that was deleted. I unchecked the box in the startup tab in msconfig and haven't had the problem since. |
