| Apex Tech God | I have a customer with an HP XE783 running the biggest turn of an OS - Windows ME. She is having horrible spyware/virus/security problems and in the process of repairing the PC would like Windows XP Home installed. Specs on this beast are: Intel 700 MHz celeron 30 gb hard drive 319 mb RAM - she upgraded this recently but not thru me so Im guessing original 64 plus 256 mb chip minus shared video RAM No problems with the hard drive thats plenty and the RAM is OK too. Intel 810 chipset so the video/mobo drivers can be found for XP - the only problem may be sound card but if I can get drivers I will just grab a cheapy of newegg. The Question: I have never used XP on anything weenier than 1.7 GHz. She has basic office task needs for this PC and uses broadband internet. Anyone using a PC with similar specs and can they comments on how it runs - no benchmarks just real world subjective. |

| Apex Tech God | no problems there at all m8 - the lowest and still stable spec ive put XP on was: -K62 450 -180MB RAM -20GB HDD -8MB VIDEO it still pumles through loading and handles well, though patience is required when loading big things. also ask her if she wants some security software on there mite get you some extra $ in hand.just for future reference, the lowest spec is about this, exept the ram is 128, and a 10 gb hdd for space.

| Freck-hoe-d | Only thing is maybe ram, I think they recommend you have at least 512mb to run it smoothly. But thats my two cents.

![]() ![]() ![]() | XP is running on the familie's machine which consists of the following: P2 350mhz 192mb PC100 RAM Onboard video 10gig slow HDD Not one of the slowest listed here, but just another example of many that it can be done with ease. All the eye candy should be turned off, although the installation usually does this for you. |
