Default XP 64-Bit Upgrade

I know you can drop in a XP Pro to upgrade XP Home without wiping the files, but can you drop in XP 64-Bit to upgrade XP 32-Bit without wiping the files too?

Probably apples to oranges, but I tried to do that with Vista on my laptop and it was a no-go. I think it has to do with going from a 32-bit to a 64-bit OS, aside from the drivers support in V64 at the time...

Can't rightly remember the whole reason as far as a textbook answer, but that's what I know...

the simplest method that i use for upgrading people to new platforms is to do a ghost images or back up the raw data with a Linux boot disk to a USB device, and then start fresh fast efficient and you will notice a performance increase froma fresh load!
