Default XP freezing help!

Hi, I do not konw much about computers and need some help. Recently I will be going about fine on my computer and randomly my cursor stops and i cannot move it ir type anything. I am forced to turn off my computer and restart. It seems to just be happening like in the past 2 days. Also sometime Windows just starts to act all choppy and the cursor does not glide smoothly but rather it jumps and lags. Can someone explain why XP is doing this?

2.4 Ghz Intel P4
XP home edtiion
512 RD RAM
120 HD

thanks.

Looks like 101% cpu usage to me, AKA spyware...scan for spyware.

You can start by removing all adware/spyware. Here's Adaware and Here's Spybot.

errrrghhh! RD RAM? *shudders* thats almost old skool!

anyways the problem in hand - what do you actually have installed on the Hard drive? lots of games/ big video encoding stuff? or lots o music? If you are runnin a little low - which shouldnt be the case with 120GB there, I suggest a little defraging, and speed disking (norton systemworks) to re organise your filing system, and pagefile.

just out of curiousity, how expirienced are you? because otherwise i can understand that spyware may not be a 2nd language to you.

and welcome to pimprig!
