![]() ![]() ![]() | So my mom's old Viewsonic VX910 blows itself up last night. She picks up a no-name 21.6" 1680x1050 LCD as a replacement. Now, she used to run the VX910 at 1024x768-- a bit low for a 19" LCD. But she doesn't like 1680x1050. The next lowest WS resolution is 1440x900. She doesn't like that either. So she does tolerate 1152x864, but it's hopelessly distorted. Nvidia's drivers supposedly let you set custom resolutions. But either I get "resolution invalid" or "resolution cannot be added". I was able to expose 1280x720 or something by telling the card that the monitor was a 720p HDTV, but it's not really what I want. Why would it refuse to add resolutions? OS: Win2000 Card: 8300GS Drivers: oldish |

| Apex Tech God | Try Powerstrip. It should let you set any resolution you want.

| Aqua Pimp | Digital connections can limit your options on some brands. My old 19" Hyundai would only display 3 resolutions with a DVI connector, yet supported all the settings you would expect using the vga connector. My mom has the same aversion to high res, I set all the fonts and icons to be large. And bought her a solitaire game that will scale up.
