Default "Setup library msgrocm.dll could not be loaded, or function OcEntry could

When I try to add/remove windows components in XPpro sp3, I get a message that
says:

"Setup library msgrocm.dll could not be loaded, or function OcEntry could not be found." I found them on my HDD, but dont know why it wont load.

TIA

I had problems with SP3 myself. I was getting a GDI32.dll error. It seems that SP3 didn't overwrite the old file so I had to expand the new version of GDI32.dll to a floppy and then manually copy it to the windows/system32 directory. After I did that all was good again. I'm betting money the same basic thing has happened to you :-)

Well msgrocm.dll is the Windows Messenger OC Manager Plug-In so I would try updating Messenger to the latest version and see if that helps.

Were you trying to uninstall Media Player by any chance? I Googled and didn't come up with anything really helpful - I'm guessing but I think it's related to SP3 so more problems will occur and more people will complain and a M$ solution will appear on their website shortly.

I had already loaded Live messenger and have since uninstalled that as i thought that might help but it didnt.

It isnt WMP either.

What has instigated all of this is that i cant load a .WAB outlook express address book, and its asking me to unintall an update, so i need to go to Add/Remove Windows components, but i cant get past this error. It also mentions 0x7e if that helps.

Im going to uninstall sp3 now and try to load the .wab file then re-install sp3 again.

Huge PITA.

Still open to ideas.!

Hi, I created a package that replaces some of the files missing after XP SP3 installation. It Solves the
"Add/Remove Windows components" error. Just run it and click install. It also leaves a copy of old
" GDI32.DLL " file at "c:\windows", as many people had problems with this file after installing SP3. If
you have this problem, just copy it to "c:\wndows\system32", replacing the new file. As someone can
notice, there are duplicated files in this package, that's because I let copies on folders where Windows
usually seek for necessary files.

Ps. After " Add/Remove Windows components" back to work, i noticed that "Windows Messenger" e "MSN
Explorer" (!!!) were checked. I recomend uncheking it ( if you dont´t use it, of course).

The package links to Rapidshare and Mediafire are attached.

I also uploaded the .torrent file "XP Service Pack 3 ( SP3 ) FIX" at ThePirateBay.org, "XP SP3 FIX" at TorrentReactor.to and "Windows XP SP3 FIX" at btjunkie.org

Hope it´s useful.

Some people also reported that their PCs start to reboot randonmly several times after installing XP SP3, mainly HP PCs with AMD processors. A former Microsoft Programmer, Jesper Johansson, developed a fix for this problem.

Fix is attached.

File Type: txt XP SP3 FIX.txt (429 Bytes, 1228 views)
File Type: zip SP3 Reboot FIX.zip (6.3 KB, 612 views)

Copy the missing file from C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386 to C:\WINDOWS\System32\Setup
If require another file (like msnmsn.inf or other...) just search to first directory, copy and paste to "Setup" directory.
