Default Cant get Modem To Work

I have a computer that im trying to instal a modem on. Its Windows 95, the modem is a Conexant model numbers, RS56-PCI, R6793-15. There is nothing in hell that will make this POS work, ive tried downloading drivers off line not working. Nothing is working, this is making me so mad im about to throw it out the window. It did work before, my friend has used it at his house. (this is a friends rig). Until hew deleted something and now it doesnt work! Also when you turn it on it gives you an error that says Aurshel.exe couldent find VxD API.

Thanks

I can't give you any specifics, but the last couple of modems I've installed have been a nightmare, the only way to get them working was to reboot at every step after the initial install failed:

- power off
- remove modem
- boot up, remove all traces of modem drivers
- reboot
- power off
- install modem
- power up & install modem drivers (do it through the control panel, not the autodection thingy)
- reboot

Hopefully it'll work then.

I've uploaded a driver file to my site. The driver MDM5614M3C is from Phoebe Micro. I got it from Driver Guide.com. I'ts been tested and should work with your modem. Just make sure you scan it for viruses although I've never had a problem with Driver Guide. If you have internet access on another computer, you can download the zip file from my site: http://spctech.org/WIN9X.zip

I dont know whats up, i tested the connection on another computer and it connects but this one slowly dies. Also i tested this modem by calling my moms cell phone and it did ring so i know the modem can connet. Just when i go to connect to the internet it makes its wierd noises but then just dies and trys reconnecting.

Glad that got the got the PC to see the modem. Does your provider have alternate phone numbers to dial into? Maybe the one you're using is hitting an overused server.

Try adding a couple comma's after the phone number. The comma will cause a short pause. This usually helps old modems. Also lower the baud rate to 56700. Try a init string +MS=V34. Make sure you reboot the pc after entering the init string.
