Default Short Circuit won't shut off

If you hold the power button for 4 sec. it shuts off, but if you try to shut down from Windows all it does is restart the computer. Anyone else had this problem?

I'm thinking it's a BIOS problem since that's what does the auto-shutdown thing. Maybe check the settings? Also, there might be a program running that's preventing it from shutting down. A virus scan might help.

PSU is an Antec 300W

I had this same problem before on a completely differeent computer, my first rig, K6-2 450 on an MSI MS-5169 did this. I think its a virus, I'll have it checked tonight to see if that may be the cause.

Had that problem before, SP2 fixed it. Try SP1 or SP2 if you have not already.

You can try looking through the registry for the following key:

PowerdownAfterShutdown

Mine's set to '0', and my machine works fine. If yours is set to '1', then change it to '0'. If it's already at '0' try changing it to '1' and see if it makes a difference.
