Default Constant freezes with Windows 98SE on new computer when comp is left alone.

I just got a new computer for my mom, its usin:

Fortron 235w psu
Pentium III 900mhz
2 64mb sticks of PC100 SDRAM
Biostar M6TWG
Fireball 2GB HD
Maxtor 40GB HD
Generic CD-ROM
Windows 98SE

Anyways, I got everything installed fine, all drivers working, and overall the computer is working nicely except for one thing. If I leave the computer alone for somewhere around 15 minutes, it freezes. Im pretty sure that as long as Im doing something on the computer it doesn't freeze, but if I leave it idle for around 15 minutes itll just freeze. I know this is a very broad problem, but if someone could post a list of things I could do to fix this, thatd be great.
thanks

With Win98 I'd be inclined to blame that rather than the hardware ... as it's a fresh install I'd check the power management settings (under control panel) & disable all the options & also check the screensaver setup & disable that too.

I've always found screensavers & power saving hugely unreliable under win98, so it's worth a try.

Hardware-wise, that PSU sounds very underpowered.

............................Do not take out the hard drive.... or mabey your talking about the floppy in the floppy drive...lmao ..anyways...friends of mine had the same problem, after I flamed him for using windows 98 and not Xp I went on to clear the 677 spy ware files and stopped the 14 programs from starting up, its been fine ever since. But I still get phone call with him saying “ I installed the drivers but its still not working??? ” my reply is Get Xp!!!

Start>Run>msconfig>Startup>Make sure nothing is selected

Theres no spyware or anything, I just installed 98 yesterday..but when I said take out the HD, I meant the 2GB which really serves no use, it was in there to copy all her old stuff over to the new HD, but thats done now

Does it happen even with no applications running, and screensavers/energy-saving options disabled?
