Default recover partition deleted in windows setup?

Somehow I got mixed up and hit the D key then the L key or something during windows XP setup and deleted the only partition for one of my media harddrives. It never formatted or anything, just deleted and came back to partition screen. Anyone have a good recommendation to recover?

Thanks

I just had the same problem come across my bench, and found a great program that did the trick, its made by R-Studios

Home page Disk Recovery Software and Hard Drive Recovery tool for Windows

The program was VERY easy to use and recovered over 20+gb of music, photo's and doc's from a hard drive that went through the exact same thing

Best thing Ive found (think somebody suggested it here) is a tiny little app simple called Restoration.

I even added it to our Downloads section.

When you delete something, its not actually deleted; the space is just labelled "empty" until its needed to store something else.

This little app will scan a drive and Ive personally had great success getting back tons of old stuff from old drives of mine, some quite nostalgic stuff

If it smells like spam, it gets deleted.

My favourite utility is WinHex (http://www.x-ways.net/winhex/); but you gotta buy it for full functionality.

Default Re: recover partition deleted in windows setup?

looks like all the options ... yah ... cost money

anyone know any free ways to do this?

Just to be clear, the HDD was a data-only drive that I often accessed with my windows install on another HDD. During windows reinstall, I accidentally deleted the data HDD from the table, in the blue Win XP setup screen, so instead of saying NTFS 102341/80000 kb whatever it said "empty partition", or again whatever it says, I can't remember it verbatim.

Thanks
