Default Win XP unusable after using Explorer

My XP session is perfectly stable until I try to perfom any action that involves files on my partioned 120GB hard-disk. Using Windows or Internet Explorer to view / copy / move my files causes the CPU to become 100% occupied, and the only way to make the system usable again is to terminate explorer.

I am using the following

ABIT NV7-S
Athlon Barton 2500+
XP SP1
Kingston 2*256MB

The latest Nvidia 3.13 chipset drivers, which included an IDE driver, which I have rolled back to use the Microsoft IDE drivers.

Thankyou...

First, install nVidia v2.45.
Second, Disable folder "Common Tasks":
My Computer>Folder Options>General Tab>Tasks [Use Windows classic folders]

Hi Tex, thx for getting back to me. I have tried what you have suggested, but it has not worked. Any other suggestions?

Also, how you running your system at 2500Mhz? I have an identicial mainboard+proc setup but cannot even hit 2200MHz!

You tried the v2.45 drivers? Amazing you even got the v3.13's to work, I could not even boot with the SW IDE driver before I had a SATARAID boot drive, and once I did, windows would boot with the SW IDE driver, but would crash if I tried to access my IDE drives.

As for your O/C, do you have ram that can take your desired FSB? What week/stepping do you have?
I have a 0347 AQYEA @ 11x230 and 1.7 vCore

I cant get explorer to work properly, so unless anyone has any ideas, I will reformat. Tex, would you suggest not using the 3.13 drivers?

I have 2 sticks of Kingston HyperX 256MB DDR PC3500 memory. My FSB is set to 200, but if I try and run at 11x200 I can boot but lock up.

What is a 0347 AQYEA ?
