Default Win 2k Pro

When my dad first starts up his comp after it posts and bios reads a message pops up

Please Select The Operating System To Start:
MS Windows 2000 Pro
MS Windows 2000 Pro

He can highlight either one but he wants to know how to get rid of this at start up

Thanks

This is common if you were trying to alter the boot screen. You can either get a new boot.ini file (could possibly have a virus) or try and edit the boot.ini file. First make a copy of the original and rename it. It should be located in the Main part of your hard drive. ex: C:. The last line should say something like "WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows 2000 Pro" /fastdetect" it should go away if you remove everything after the word fastdetect.

Hope this helps, I can check my win2k pro machine tomorrow if u need anything else.
