| Rubber Duck-Hoe | Well, I just built a computer for my father and his business. He had an old 400MHZ P2 on a 10 Gig HD. It was running Windows 98 SE. I built him a computer from my older parts. Now he is running a Athlon 1600+ on Win XP on a 40 Gig HD we got today. Now comes the problem. In order to install XP, I had to have Windows 98SE still on the 10 gig drive that was master on the IDE bus. The 40 gig was what I put XP on. I want to be able to remove the 10 gig drive because I think it is going to fail. When I do remove it, XP wont boot. I think its because the MBR (Master Boot Record) was on the 10 Gig drive. SO my question really comes down to : How do I put the MBR on the 40 Gig drive so I can remove the 10 Gig drive with 98 completely? Thanks everyone. |

| Apex Tech Maniac | When you go into fdisk, which drive shows up as the active partition? Which drive is the master, and which the slave? Does it make a difference if you leave them both in the comp, but switch their master/slave config? EDIT: Of course I'm probably barking up the wrong tree, I usually do. That's how I learn which ones taste better
