Your first big problem is your OS 98 and ME are going to give you the hard time.

For the flopy issue just disable flopy on startup in you bios. The others I'm looking but hopfully someone will know faster than I. Yeah there is an issue with larger hdd on older OSs. you should partition it anyway. Create a 20 gig or less for your OS and the rest for other info.

I think win98 has some problems reading 100gb+ HDD's though I could be wrong. Should just go with win2k/xp pro. Either one is good but xp pro is the better of the two.

Yes, FAT 32 can only address drives smaller then 113 I believe, so partition it around 80/40 and you'll be save, you can push it closer, but I don't remember the exact number.

Well I'm wrong. According to a windows help section online:
Quote:
FAT32 provides the following enhancements over previous implementations of the FAT file system:

Supports drives up to 2 terabytes in size.

So thats not the problem. Sorry man I cant help anymore.

Also I found that Here under "Understanding Fat32".

Hmm... ok, I guess that rules it out. I could have sworn one of those older technology things couldn't work correctly with it. I'd try partionining it anyways, it's an easy enough of a solution that's worth the effort.

well actually the filesystem might be able to hit 2tb, but that doesnt necessarally mean the os will. 98 cant even handle more than 512mb of ram right, what makes you think itll do 100+GB of hdd right?

Give XP a try, thats my thoughts.
