Unhappy Games still minimize uncontrollably in XP

Now, even after removing the hotfixes that BigAkita said, the minimizing problem I had before has somehow come back.

When I open programs, full screen (games) in particular, it just minimizes without me doing anything and stays that way. Then I click the taskbar button to open it back up it just minimizes again right away. Pausing and closing F@H still doesn't help.

Quick question. Are you using the "windows" button as a control key in any of these games? Cuz in XP that will often minimize a game.

no no no, I don't even get into the game at all, the program starts, screen goes blank for a milisecond and minimizes. Same process when I try to maximize it.

I have that problem with NFSU and XP - however restarting and doing nothing before I play the game usually fixes it.

Default Games still minimize uncontrollably in XP

I was having the same problem, every game was minimized to the desktop every few minutes or so.
The fix that worked for me was to disable Norton Antivirus before playing a game.
Found it here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/newsgroups/reader.mspx?query=game&dg=microsoft.public.windowsxp.games

Look under 'Games Minimize to Task Bar For No Apparent Reason'.

I have the same problem sometimes also. I find logging off and back on again fixes it. Sorry, don't know what's causing it.

It's F@H when you open into the visual thing all versions to my knowledge will minimize a full screen game whenever you have opened the F@H gui. Just don't open it or run it as a system process.

Nevermind, I guess disabling Norton didn't work, I still have the problem.
Rebooting sometimes stops it though.
I found somewhere on the internet that removing 4 windows hotfixes:
KB828035, kb823182, kb824141 and kb825119 would solve this,
Don't know if I need to remove them though.

I have the srunning Black Hawk Down. I would End task something (damn near randomly) write it on a list. After Several End tasking I would find something that would be doing it (or a series of things) Unfortunately I lost the list. If you were to try this prosess, though leangthy, it would narrow down your options. If you do go about this way save your list!!!!! Don't be stupid and place it in a Drive with thousands of Documents and not remember the name or location (me).
