Default Corrupt mp3's

Crappy WinBlows Figures this **** happens.

So I have a fileserver I had built a while ago, well apparently a bunch of the files are corrupt, Windows doesn't think so, but they don't play in Media Player, file size is there but none of the files play or dispaly images etc. lights are on no one is home.

When I play certain music files they play parts from movies I have saved, WTF @ Winblows. I hate this operating system I am so glad I didn't actually pay for this ****.

Is there any way to get my **** back or do I get to start from scratch all over again?

Oh one more thing **** Western Digital both of these are 250gb drives and every single drive I have ever bought WD brand new has done similar things, I have Maxtors that are older than some of the people on this board and they work fine. WD = Waste dollars

I've had corruption problems before on WD drives, though I don't think it was the drives' fault... then again I've never had a 'problem' with a WD drive. But I was having similar wierdness occurring also, like some songs would have parts of other tracks in them.

I just ran "chkdsk /r" in a command prompt and honestly that recovered a good deal of the fricked files. The "R" switch recovers data if possible. Might give that try.

One way to see if it's just windows is run a linux live and open them. And a good way to protect your data is to set up a raid, speaking of which u got 2X 250gb's i got a 500gb seagate i'll sell you. What a cowinkidink

VLC is the only media player worth using.

I'll try some of this tomorrow. I have a lot of old school stuff on here things you can't find on the Net anymore these days and would like to keep my data.

I do run a RAID array, both of the drives have the exact same data on them, and both just felt like telling me to piss off.

I have an 8 disk SCSI array I built just for my Photography, 5 73gb and 3 36gb, and go figure this happens. Would mind if two of those drive ate themselves, not my WD 250's. Blargh.

If you're going to attempt to recover any corrupted data, try taking the two drives out of the array and working on one drive at a time. This seemed to worked better when I had corruption issues on my 2x 180Gb WD mirror array.
