Mild annoyance re: network names I've finally gotten a fresh install of Vista exactly how I want it (by which I mean NOT requiring that damned ArcSoft TotalMedia package for both analogue and digital: WatchHDTV + VirtualVCR does the trick, after a week of trying options).
But I made one boo-boo. When I set up my 802.11 card (static only - no DHCP), I first put in the wrong gateway. I noticed when nothing loaded, and changed it.
What's weird is that seemed to tell the 802.11 configuration stuff "Hey, we're in a new network!". Now it identifies on the "Disconnect From..." menu (click the network icon) as "-network name- 2 (-network name-)". Obviously, the network name has been censored for security, since it's distinctive.
While this is a mild annoyance, I wanted to image a "perfect, clean" install.
Should I just start over (I've now gotten reinstall-and-rebuild to about 2 hours, down from about 6 thanks to pre-planning every driver and app), or is there a way to fix it. |
