Default !URGENT! Next 2 hours! - Sony Viao VGC-V2M

Right guys. I'm at work and a customer has brought in a Sony Vaio VGV-V2M, which is one of those sytems with everything built into the monitor.

Now according to the Sony store below us, drivers are not made publically available online etc, but the customer doesn't have his recovery CDs and we've reinstalled the OS. The only possibility is ordering them and paying for them, as the warranty on the system is ran out a year ago, thus no free support is available.

If anyone could help me out in this sticky situation, it'd be awesome.

I HAVE FAITH IN YOU ALL

(Gotta be done in the next 2 hours though).

Many thanks.

Also the gfx is an old FX 5700, I need drivers for the widescreen, I've tried old 58. drivers, 81.98, and the 163s. The only one that worded was the 89.98 which wouldn't friggin' allow widescreen, no res above 1024*768.

C'mon any ideas anyone???

Have a look here:

nVision -> Device Drivers

I have a feeling that PC uses some laptop parts. Also for video drivers try here; fairly sure it's a Go 5700.

nVision -> News, FAQ & NVIDIA Drivers

Also have you tried using Windows update to download the drivers? Obviously not possible if you can't get an NIC driver though.

Ah yes, 'Go'. Cheers.

Also found the driver pack for the machine, got everything done bar the audio drivers, gotta find the right AC97 drivers, as the ones in the pack don't seem to like me i.e. BSOD >.> Wrong drivers I suspect.

Thanks man.

Sony is notorious for integrating much of their software in with both the OS and the hardware.

Kudos to you for trying, but I would have told your customer that he was SOL for losing the discs in the first place and to reorder some a new set.

Yep, Kudoz Fiddles for givin' it a go!
I hate nothing more than systems with integrated software like Rob said.
I used to have the same kinda problem with toshiba and packard bell systems!

Ok cheers guys. It looks like we'll have to order in the drivers in direct from Sony which will cost more money but I guess there's nothign else that can be done.

And if the user is up except for audio, they can get work done while awaiting discs. Nicely done!
