You know, when there's someone I really don't like at work, or when they've sufficiently pissed me off, I'll often remote to their machine and mess around with the basic system files on their laptop so that the next time they reboot it's bye-bye laptop (and that might not necessarily be at work)

Fortunately, though, I have my a.ss covered because they have to save their important files on the network. If they save anything on their laptop and they lose it it's their fault...they've signed an agreement acknowledging that fact! I love being the Sr. Network Administrator...

So not only is this procedure good for learning and troubleshooting, it's good for wreaking havoc on those people who have pissed you off.

[Edit] after everyone gets the joke, this post will be removed so that I don't incriminate myself LOL

heh . . . When I was administrating the Internet Cafe I used to work for . . . what, like 5 years, almost 6 now . . . The owners were tools . . . never got up from their systems to help customers if one of the employees was in the area (regardless of either them being busy, as was usually my case . . . windows 98 networks were HORRIBLE to manage, or not even on the clock . . . )so, I ended up putting in a lot of overtime hours because their machines kept 'needing to be reinstalled' for some odd reason.

It's incredible what you can do/get away with when you when no one knows how to follow the RIGHT footprints . . .

BTW, GodlyGreek? We're not trying to be total asshats here, but you will learn better by actually seeking out the answer and the 'why it works' portions yourself. You retain it and can use it MUCH more readily than if you treat it like a canned answer.

Give a n00b the fix, and he'll play for a day.

Teach the n00b to do their own work, and he's no longer a n00b.

Google is a geeks best friend. Once you learn how to use Google efficiently, there's virtually nothing you can't fix.

i did search the internet you dumb ****. One of the reasons I came to the forums is to get a simpler explanation where I can actually get answers from various people. If everyone used other sources than these forums, then these forums would be obsolete.

WHOAA!!!... Hold the phone.. Now I think that was WAY out of line and I have half a mind to put a permanent cork in you but I will give you a chance to apologize quickly before someone in a worse mood than I am comes along!

The thing you need to realize is they ARE helping you to LEARN.. Learning is not asking someone to do your work.. unless thats what you want to do the rest of your life... Learning is WORK.. and if your not willing to put what little effort goes into a search then I am affraid there is nothing we will do for you here..

Someone needs to learn some respect and if he doesn't apologize by this time tomorrow he may have to learn the hard way.

Here you say it for a class , and by that statment us DUMB****'s didnt give you the answer outright because taking a CLASS implies your needing to LEARN

Again you say its for a CLASS , so again the DUMB****'s pointed you in the right direction, but witheld the actual answer so YOU WOULD LEARN.

Ya know... many years ago I called out Duck and BA about deionized water not conducting electrical current out of my ignorance and proved a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

Granted I had good enough manners not to swear at them

They proved me wrong, and I took it like a man and actually learned something.
Now I'm hoping you've slept on it and realize that all of us were trying to help you out...
even when we piled on, we were trying to teach you something.

So since those esteemed gentlemen gave me a second chance, I will extend the same courtesy to you.

What you do with it is up to you.

Jeebus . . . With a little keyboard work in the directions that you were aimed and the answer would have fallen directly into your lap . . .

I just want to make a statement here that I'm hoping everyone will agree with.

The difference between a 'good' computer user and a 'Great' computer user is simply defined by how much work you are willing to do to expand your own knowledge.

There are a GREAT many times in my life that I could have gone to a source and gotten the 'easy' answer, but that wouldn't have taught me my 'google-fu' as it were. Because I forced myself to learn proper research techniques, taught myself how to think 'out of the search box' and also how not to give up when the easy answer doesn't come, I'm one of the best people I know at finding the obscure answers to computer problems. Granted that I still have a fairly high miss to hit ratio in the early going, but I KEEP TRYING and ALWAYS find that right answer.

Now that I have THAT out of the way . . . What the HELL is wrong with you? We're trying to give you a tool that will help you for the rest of your fricking life here, and you crap all over us. You're not gonna make it very far in a professional environment that way . . . .

Hell, the best computer tech's aren't seen or heard from by the company they work for until it's time to 'save the day', because that's when EVERYONE suddenly knows exactly WHO you are and WHERE to find you . . . and if you don't know how to find that right answer on your own? Sucks to be you.

I'm not much for giving out neg rep very often, but kid, you earned it this time.

woah, holdup dude, don't dis on the forums for helping you actually learn the trick. I admit joose was helping, alongwith a few others. But you don't bash because of this.

I think that you need a lesson in actually learning, and need to quit cheating. Computers are the ost informed object on the net, you definately need some work in googleing it.

Lazy little sh1t's like this one is the reason why I don't give answers. I knew from his first post what he was asking and why.

If I see any answers in this thread I'm going to remove them.
