Question Windows destroyed?

I have a P3 1.13Ghz computer and I had a dual boot on my hard drive for either Windows 98 SE or Windows XP Pro. But all of a sudden one day the Windows 98 O/S can't load. It says "explorer.exe is corrupt" and yadda yadda. I like having both os's because my games run faster in 98 and some programs won't work in XP.

Windows 98 was/is on my "C:\" drive and XP is on the "D:\" drive. If I re-installed windows 98, do I need to worry about it corrupting any master boot records or anything like that? The hard drive is a Maxtor 10,000rpm 160GB hard drive and it's virtually brand new. All of my inportant data is on it's own huge partition. Any thoughts? What about a really good backup prog?

THANKS!

I think you can just format the section you want but I'm not really sure, see if it lets you select just one partition and not the whole HD, if not you can always just say "no" with nothing lost

As long as they're on seperate partitions, you should be okay. The MBR should remain intact...

Remember, you can also load 98 over top of itself, so you might be able to repair it that way.

Still.. make sure you back up your stuff just in case...

Any reccomendations on a GOOD backup prog? I have a DVD burner, which I thought would help with backups, but no, not really...

None? That's what I thought. Nero isn't good for crap. It's a good concept, but simply doesn't work.
Anything else I have found is outrageously expensive...
