| Apex Elite Expert Tech | Hey everyone, been a while since I was last here, but now i'm back i've got a problem i need some help with. My GF's laptop has stopped working properly on the internet, it will load most web pages correctly but will not allow for her to login to secure sites such as hotmail or sue the advanced searches at sites like Amazon or eBay. SInce it had been almost a year since the last Widows re-install I've used the reset disks to put the machine back to the state it was in o the day she bought it but that hasn't solved the problem. Oher things t keep in mind are that she downloaded some nasty virus the day before it stopped working, i don't see how it will have survived a low level format but if it has how would you suggest getting rid of it? Also we got a new router the other day, its a brand unknown to me, but it works prefectly for me, could it being part of the problem? Hope this is enough information to recieve some help. Reza

| Apex Elite Expert Tech | Tired in Opera 9.2, Firefox 2.002 or whatever it is and in Internet Exploder 6 and 7! Can't try without the router as its also my Modem, no settings have been changed and since it won't work after a complete reformat I don't think it can be browser related, thanks for the input though!

That should eliminate anything that could be hiding in the boot loader or other important areas of the drive. Other than that I dunno what to suggest if you've tried multiple browsers, sounds very odd. Maybe a router problem, have you read the manually thoroughly for anything about enabling security features or any inbuilt firewall?

| Apex Elite Expert Tech | Thanks for the replys guys, turned out to be a problem from an unknown source, out of frustration I decided to wipe all the settings on our router and start again and do a low level format of her hard disk and now it all works fine. So I dunno if it was the outer or a virus hiding in the boot sector. Thanks for the replys!
