| I am trying to instal windows 98 onto a P3 I have but have run into a problem I go to the windows setup, and it wants to run scandisk first like always, but then runs surface scan, and as of right now its at 13% done after an hour. Is there a way to skip this (I cant remember) or anything I can do? If you need specs Intel 845 mobo wit a P3@733Mhz WD 60 Gb drive that was just formatted with the FAT32 file sys | ||

| How would I use that? If I go to the command line the only drive that I can switch to is C: no E or F for the optical drives, but they do show up and are detected in bios The drive was already formatted, and am now installing from the cd...I just put it in and select to start windows 98 setup from the cd rom, So i am still stuck watching a slow progress bar, but I appriciate the help | ||

That's normal for win98 ... it's easiest to just leave it alone & use C: for the OS & most apps, then use FDisk or Partition Magic to create a D: drive & put all your data on that. | ||||||||||||||||||||
