| Apex Techie Wannabe | I've recently noticed some graphical errors both in games and on the desktop. On the desktop I see little discolored pixels which stand out from the others. Red, green, blue are the colors that mostly appear, they also stay ontop, meaning they dont disappear behind Mozilla or maximised windows. I reinstalled windows recently and the discolored pixels even appear on startup and before I had any video card drivers installed. Im not ruling out a mobo chipset issue because I had to install a new heatsink/fan on it. (crappy a8n-sli fan died) Some issues in games also appeared around the same time as the pixels did, WoW has texturing problems and some other interesting issues such as all of the text blurring out to make it unreadable and an unusual flashing of the game. Id really appreciate the communities help on this, I'm really just trying to isolate the problem to a specific component so that i may replace it Thanks in advance! | It seems like you're overlooking the obvious. All these issues are pointing to a defective video card. I've messed up a video card or two in my past, one of them had similar issues; it had incorrect funky pink & green colors, it displayed the colors during the windows bootup splash screen as well as in games. Swap in another video card and if the problems go away, you've just proven that it's indeed the video card. However, your description of "discolored pixels even appear on startup" and "also stay ontop, meaning they dont disappear behind Mozilla or maximised windows" seems to indicate possible dead pixels on your monitor. I didn't see this in your screenshots, though, but if you got pixels that are "always on" or "always off" no matter if you're in a game or windows, and you have an LCD monitor, it could be that causing the dead pixels. But that's a different issue than your wacked-out colors and textures. | ||

| WoW sucks with the latest update and causes problems. Try using older drivers such as 84.21 if those dont work and its artifacting in other games you ned to rma the card. You can do that right on the website so long as you have registered the card. | ||

| Apex Techie Wannabe | @Coelacanth Im fairly positive that the pixels are not dead, sorry for not mentioning that, Ive swapped monitors and the pixels remain, althought they do move around occasionally. Its fairly random, more wil appear one day and fewer the next. I hope that it is a defaulty card so that the warranty will cover it. The pixels seem to disappear in leigh of the texture and tearing problems in games. | |

Yeah, it seems he's having the problem with more than one game, and with the display in Windows too. So it all seems to point to a bad vidcard. Can you try this vidcard in another computer and reproduce the wonky colors there, too? Then you can be quite certain that's the culprit.

Well, there are no other PCI-E systems in the house to test it, althought that doesent seem too necessary; I've already started the RMA process with EVGA. The main worry was that it was the motherboard, and if it isnt that, then im perfectly alright with replacing the video card. Thanks for the help you two.

| Apex Techie Wannabe | Nope, the card wasent overclocked at all and yeah i thought it may be the dvi connector but i never tested it. I assumed the RMA might take a while so I got a cheap 7300 for <50 to last me until the RMA gets completed. | |
