Unhappy Problems from the off with my new HIS X1950PRO AGP 512mb

Hi all,

Having fitted my card today without incident I immediately encountered problems with my card.

1: the POST screen is scrambled in colour

2: 3dmark03 crashed in mothernature

3: All games crash in less than 5 mins of gaming, like F.E.A.R, prey, farcry won't even launch, strangely ut2k4 runs fine it seems!?

Running 6.12 driver, just tried 7.1, no difference
That and ATI TRAY TOOLS is all I have
My PSU is 480W antec neoppower, I don't think its a PSU issue

Any ideas i'm really annoyed and considering just RMA'ing it

Did you try changing the fan setting that was mentioned in the other threads?
My suggestion would be to return the card and get a different brand, based on all the grief people who own this card are going through.

KindaOT: Why would people be pissing about ATI when it is a HIS card?
ATI only made the GPU... if it was an ATI card, then you can whine.

Like blaming nVidia when your nForce motherboard is causing you problems.
No proven causality.

Yeh I tried manually putting the fan at 100%, GPU's can handle 90-100 degrees anyway so no way it should crash at 50!

Mobile GPUs maybe, but desktop GPUs...probably not. Still, no, it shouldn't be crashing at 50c. What are you using to measure temps? ATi Tool is good.

Your card is hosed. Get an RMA.

I've had really good experiences with the Sapphire offering of the X1950 Pro 512MB AGP card. You might want to try and return your card and pick up the Sapphire version.

Thats good to know Spectrum, I could give another HIS card a go, cos in theory it is a good card or give up on it right now and try sapphire, tho I am gonna be fitting a different cooler to it!

I've got an RMA number now, first time doing any of this stuff its a bit daunting!
