| So I felt like playing some HL:2 today. When installed it and tried to play it would give me this... (That is video of the problem in the main menu of HL2) I don't know what the issue is.... When I go into CS:S it just gives me a black screen and all I see is my cursor. I tired uninstalling drivers and reinstalling. Didn't work. I had a similar problem with Age of Empires III. The main menu screen (and game play) would be all screwed up. I turned the shaders off and it fixed it. In hl2 the screen is so bad I can't see the menu enough to change the shaders. I ANY CASE what would cause this problem. HL2 isn't the only game. Any ideas???? | ||

| When you uninstalled your drivers, Did you use Driver Cleaner Pro? 2) Is your card Overclocked? You have a 9800 Correct? (from your profile) Since you flashed it to a XT, that could be a problem. Try bringing it back to its original settings. | ||

| I didn't use driver cleaner, I will try that. Not overclocked. I've had the XT conversion since I got the card. (A couple of years ago). No problems till now. I did a complete reinstall of XP a few months ago. I just now tried to play the game. I'll use Driver cleaner then get back to ya. UPDATE: I uninstalled and then used DCPro. Installed an older version of catalyst. Still didn't fix it. This is really starting to bug me. Graphics card could be dying maybe? Last edited by WDoG; 14-January-07 at 12:58 AM.. | ||

| Nerdz - I was using the Omega Drivers but thought that they might be the problem. Switching to the Catalyst didn't fixed the problem. Solid - Tried reinstalling the game a couple different times, every time I would change the drivers I would reinstall the game. Other Games were messing up too, when I would change the shaders on one of them it would fix the problem. Weird. Slaymate - Clock settings hadn't changed. Aarg, I was getting upset. BUT, I fixed the problem!!! I had an extra PATA hard drive that had a fresh install of windows on it. So I put it in the rig and got it up to speed with everything, installing steam/drivers and such. It worked fine. So I concluded that it was not the graphics card. *sigh of relief* But the problem now was that I had don't everything I could think of to fix it and nothing had worked. I was ready to format and reinstall (since a fresh copy of windows worked with the PATA hdd). I was going to try something. Repairing Windows XP using the CD. It worked! I had to reinstall all windows updates but that wasn't a problem. Got into the game and it was fixed. Something had corrupt my Windows. HAHA FTW!!! So for people who are having trouble with stuff try repairing windows. Thanks for the help guys! | ||
